it might be best to start by separating the two things. Anatomy is a very, very deep subject that you can spend years trying to master. Drawing poses will be a lot more approachable with gesture and slowly adding form to it as you go / learn. Always start simple. Drawing the classic wood dowel man / box man / etc in the poses you want is a good way to start off. Somebody mentioned proko and brunet already, also love life drawing is pretty good for gesture drawing. (among many others of course) Answer from leegoocrap on reddit.com

Genuinely, how do we actually learn to draw poses?

How do great artists learn to draw any pose from any angle!?
By drawing hundreds if not thousands of those poses from reference. Edit because I feel people are way too hung up on the damn boxes: drawabox is a good program, but drawing 250 or 250 million boxes ain’t gonna teach you how to draw the things you’re supposed to put in those boxes. I don’t know how many posts I’ve seen over the years from people frustrated to the point of almost giving up because “I’ve drawn a thousand boxes and I’m still bad”. Of course you are, because all you’re drawing is boxes. Yes, being able to draw things in perspective and break things down into basic forms is a necessary skill to have, but it’s not the only way to learn and you definitely shouldn’t make the mistake (which again, seems to be extremely common) of focusing exclusively on drawing boxes. Go draw the things you wanna draw and have fun with the process, if you build a visual library of people sitting at desks seen from behind, you’ll eventually be able to draw people sitting at desk seen from behind pretty accurately from scratch. If you build a visual library of boxes.. you’ll get good at drawing boxes and Amazon will love you idk More on reddit.com

How to Draw Any Pose from IMAGINATION | Love life drawing
May 19, 2023 - At the time, I thought I’d be alright at this because I was getting more confident with drawing figures from observation – but when I actually did the exercise I was shocked at how little I could draw from my head! I realised how little I actually understood about how the figure was put together. This was the moment that I realised that if I could figure out the construction of the body and a little bit of anatomy, then I’d be able to hold all of these forms in my mind. From there I could rotate them as I wished, I could take liberties with a pose, I could change it or exaggerate it, and adjust it so that the design was what I wanted it to be.

r/learntodraw on Reddit: How do great artists learn to draw any pose from any angle!?
August 19, 2023 -

I like to think I'm a decent artist from the front up to a 45 degree angle, I'm not too bad at the side. But I've not practiced the back a lot. I tried a simple sitting pose many times and it doesn't look right. How do great artists do this? Do they just memorize how to draw every angle? Or is there another skill specific for figuring out how to draw any pose from any angle without having practiced that pose or angle?

The 5 Best Actually Free Websites for Drawing Poses
June 29, 2023 - In other words, if you are really interested the accuracy of human anatomy and it doesn't bother you that there aren't shadows to draw, then this website is for you. What's really neat is the fact that you can have a 360-degree view of your model because they're 3-D references; if you like a specific pose and want to see that pose from another angle, then you are in luck.
