Usually there is a small Philips screw in the front of the drum. When this is tightened the drum gets fatter due to compression, this will cause the little sanding ring to fit snugly on the drum. More on reddit.com

February 12, 2017How tf are you supposed to put Dremel sanding drums on the rubber receiver?
The drums get deformed sometimes and basically don’t easily fit anymore after. It sucks. There’s a quick change version of the drums that are easier to use but I find they have trouble holding the sand paper tightly enough. Basically both solutions suck. More on reddit.com

August 29, 2022Advice for electric filing using sanding bands on dremel - what grit to use?? (Also open to any other advice!)
Just wanted to put my two cents in…I got a nail kit from Amazon a while back and it came with some of those disposable sandpaper bits. I tend to use the metal bits instead and then disinfect with rubbing alcohol. When I have used the sandpaper bit on the lowest setting it tends to be so coarse that even the slightest bit of pressure will make my nails bleed. Sure it makes them nice and thin but there’s really no way to do it without making some part of the nail bleed so be careful. More on reddit.com

Sanding bands will generally remove finish and material (wood or other soft material). These bands are also used for (rough) shaping and smoothing or rust removal from metal. If you want to remove just finish, consider something less aggressive like a flap wheel (no. 502 or 504), or a buff like the no. 511S/512S or 511E/512E.
Sanding bands are available in 120 and 60 grit. The lower the grit, the more material is removed.
Sanding bands will wear out and are replaceable by loosening the screw on the top of the drum or using the DREMEL excl
