r/Ebay on Reddit: Has eBay removed the ability to click on sold history for all listings?
February 28, 2023 -

Ebay has removed the ability to see sold history for all listings?

I noticed from this morning I was unable to click on the previously sold items of a listing which has multiple copies of the same item.

I often used this feature to see how often a product sells and how much it sold for during the time of its listing.

I went around to multiple listings to see if I could click on the sold quantity to find sale dates and the link is now gone!

Has this feature been removed for you as well?

I'm located in Australia if that helps.

How to see sold items on eBay to set the right price - Android Authority
January 28, 2025 - You could select Sold Listings, but you will only see items sold to a buyer on eBay, whereas completed listings will show you all past listings, whether they sold or not. We recommend the latter since seeing items that didn’t sell because they were too expensive can help determine an optimal sales price.

r/Ebay on Reddit: How to find data of sold items (ours & others)
October 5, 2023 -

I work remotely part-time for an ebay seller. I want to do some research for myself. The queries are:

  1. If I search for "framed paintings" (just an example) in the main search bar, then if I check sold items with the ^F Tab, it shows me some items which are sold. Now, the question is - to which period this SOLD data belong? In past how many days these items were sold?

  2. Further, the first displayed result (out of lacs) did not show any "HOW MANY SOLD" tag on the face of it. But, on clicking the item, it opened in another tab and showed "228 sold, 4 left in stock"! How to understand this? Why it didn't show "SOLD" data on the front page? Furthermore, how much time frame does this sold data of 228 belong to?

  3. If I go to my ebay // selling/sold // Listings. Here, if I check my "SOLD" figure, then to which period does this data belong? The customisation options have a "start date" and "end date" (which I can't change in customisation).

Can I get some help from the ebay experts here?

Something I have just become aware of is that many of the "sold" items have not actually been sold at all. I ran some auctions and they "sold" for ludicrously low prices. This was before I realized that auctions aren't suitable for many items. Of course, the winning bidders never paid so they actually weren't sold at all yet they show up as comps right next to the same items I'm now trying to sell at reasonable prices. I had one potential buyer text me to ask why "the second one" I'm selling is twice the price of the first one. I had to explain I didn't understand how auctions worked and way underpriced the starting bid and buyer ghosted and I was never paid and that I didn't understand how auctions worked so way under priced it to start with. The moral to the story is that my ridiculously low auctions that never came to fruition, though eBay lists them as comps, is living proof that what is stated as historic sales is NOT accurate. The fact that the auctions closed way too low but never really sold throws off the entire platform. I also know that listings that say ridiculous things like "30 sold, 3 left" is not accurate. I don't know how in the world my listing says I sold 30 as there were only three to start with. I ACCIDENTALLY put 33 instead of 3 and corrected it the next day but when I looked up the listing outside of my account it said 30 sold, 3 left. Don't trust the comps.

If you are searching on eBay using the "Show only" filter to view "sold items", you can see listings that have sold and ended within ninety days. Older sales are not displayed. And multiple quantity listings that have had sales but that are not yet sold out and ended are not displayed when viewing "sold items". The "how many sold" should be a cumulative tally of the quantity sold for that particular listing. If you are a seller or have access to Seller Hub, you may want to check out Terapeak, which has some historical sales data going back two years. https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/selling-tools/terapeak-research?id=4853
