As far as I'm aware it's not yet implemented. My store is maxed out on space with no more expansion options and the purple bit is still there. Whatever it is, it isn't complete and hasn't been added in. That being said, it's still fun to speculate what it could be down the line. I've theorized that it's -an entrance to the other side of the street -a butchery, deli, or some such -electronics section of some sort (though it is a supermarket and not a superstore, stranger things have happened) -a place where products are delivered after you buy them via truck or something, expediting the storage process (like a late game thing when you have tons of stuff to keep in stock) -a security room that has features to catch thieves before they steal + other functionality All of those ideas are probably nowhere close to what it really is, but like I said, all good fun to speculate.
