After mass layoffs, some federal agencies are trying to bring employees back
Guys, this Elon guy may not be the genius he told everyone he was. Also, when RFK is a voice of reason this week. I know. We’re all feeling it. I will say that at least seeing this in print when so many pro-MAGA people seem to revel in their FALSE confirmation that all government jobs are just easy and dumb was a small comfort: especially since so many people don’t have a nuanced understanding of how federal agencies work in the first place. At least the rehirings are proof! More on reddit.com

Layoffs coming to US jobs market in 2026 - Newsweek
5 days ago - For the first half of 2025, the labor market was, in the words of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, a “low hire, low fire” environment, with minimal job cut announcements preventing sluggish openings from translating into a more universally negative employment situation. But the final months of the year saw many of America’s largest employers roll out waves of large-scale layoffs, pushing total job cuts to levels rarely seen this century outside of Covid and the financial crisis.
