So, I usually ship with USPS, cause that physical location is all we have were I live. But the buyer wanted FedEx Ground Economy instead cause its cheaper. So I found a FedEx Drop Box and put the package in there.
But now I'm worried the items won't make it to them. And if I wanted to go to an actual FedEx location I'd have to drive more than an hour away. Thoughts?
What is the policy on big packages that don't fit drop boxes left outside of them? I was always told that if they arent in the drop box they dont get picked up.

I just tried walgreens drop off for the first time (and will probably be my last time). My package was around 30"x10"x10" and both size and weight were less than the limit specified : https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/onsite/walgreens-package-pickup.html The walgreens location I visited in Minneapolis straight up rejected my package, saying it won't fit their racks. They didn't even give the specific dimensions even when asked multiple times. No one had any ownership or a clear understanding of their own service. If every location has a different size limitations, fedex website is very misleading and has wasted my time.
I called the fedex customer service afterwards. The customer service representative was having a difficult time communicating. He also had no expertise on the drop off service fedex provides. Eventually he said "every walgreens location have their own limitations", so I asked "so does that mean your website is inaccurate". Then he came off very rude. When asked to connect my call to his manager, he literally ghosted the call(literally left my call in silence) then hung up. I didn't even have a mean to give a feedback about him to the customer service. That was literally the worst customer service experiences in my life.
FedEx drop-off boxes may seem like a convenient option, but let me tell you, my recent experience might make you think twice.
I shipped off two trade-in phones and a smartwatch to Samsung through FedEx, following all the instructions. But, surprise, surprise, Samsung never received the packages because FedEx never bothered to pick them up. It's been weeks now, and I'm still waiting for a response from FedEx. Transparency and urgency? Who needs that, right?
Now, Samsung is demanding full payment for each item, and I have to pay for them again. Thanks for the extra charges, FedEx! And let's not forget the investigation case I created. I was promised a response within 24 hours, but it's been a week, and I still haven't heard back from you. Did you even bother to look at my request, FedEx?
I'm starting to think that a FedEx employee might have taken my packages as a bonus pay, while I'm left here stressing out and paying extra fees for Samsung's demands. So, here's a thought, FedEx. How about you try doing the job you're paid for in the first place and check your drop-off box at least after my complain? And if you mess up, have the decency to communicate with your customers and make it right. It's not rocket science, guys.
I have a box 17x17x7 can I use the drop box? I looked up the dimensions on the site and mine seems bigger than it allows. I just want to verify..
I am intending to drop a return laptop at drop box near my location. Is it safe to do that with Fedex ground and should I go to fedex onsite instead (not preferring onsite because I don't have vehicle to go there :( )
I ship a lot of stuff at work and always noticed that FedEx will have the exact dimensions of the box on the tracking info page, even for boxes that don't have the dimensions on the bottom. I would assume they don't have time to measure each one so is it some sort of laser system?
For USPS they have a 13 ounce weight limit but I couldn't find anything for FedEx packages.
If I wanna drop off a package at an outdoors drop box what would the weight limit be?
Silly question. I have a home medical test that I need to take (24hr urine collection for kidney stone workup). It comes with a prepaid box with FedEx label to ship to lab once the test is completed. It's a time sensitive test. Needs to get to the lab within 4 days of completion. The instructions that the box comes with say to call FedEx and schedule a home pickup prior to starting the test. My question is - is there any downside to just putting the box into a FedEx drop box or giving it to the FedEx OnSite shipping service at my local Walgreens? It just seems easier for me to drop it off when I'm done as opposed to going thru the hoops of calling and scheduling a pickup where I won't even be able to be home due to my busy schedule, etc - if a time is even available.
I heard recently that you can use your own box for Fedex One rate? What has been peoples experience with this? There is a chart somewhere out there that showed cubic inches and then what size it corresponded to. What was interesting is it looked like by using your own box you save money, or can use a larger box than the express boxes...
The drop boxes say either express only, or express and ground, but FedEx Home Delivery doesn't seem to fit into either of those categories. Can I put it in a drop box at all?
I’m trying to understand a billing adjustment I just got hit with.
I shipped golf clubs in a box that measured 4 × 48 × 4 (sold by Grainger, maybe they rounded down?) and weighed under 9 lb. After delivery, the carrier adjusted the dimensions to 5 × 49 × 5 in — adding an inch to every side — and suddenly the bill shows the package as 40 lb due to dimensional weight.
That 1” increase in each dimension bumped it into a much higher pricing tier and resulted in a ~$30 upcharge. $14 to $40
Is this normal? Do carriers round dimensions up like this, or is this something I should be disputing? Anyone had luck pushing back on similar “dimension creep” adjustments?
