6mm fibre cement board sheet for exterior cladding?

It depends. I have often used an 8mm cement board for cladding in the US. How far apart are the framing members/studs? Are the cement boards in large sheets that wil abut one another or are they narrow and overlap as lap siding? Does the wall have anything else which gives it shear strength? Are they only first floor walls? What is the roof structure? More on reddit.com

How much sq ft coverage are we talking about? Unless it is a significant amount, your best bet is probably to source it from HD/Lowe's, which usually means Hardi Board. Building supply places usually aren't worth bothering for small amounts. But if you are planning to re-side the entire home, definitely talk to a supply company. They will not only give you a good price, but they will usually assist with ensuring you order the proper amount, and can give you quality comparisons between products they offer. I've, personally, not encountered a poor quality cement siding product... provided it was stored properly before installation. If someone is storing it exposed to rain, don't buy it.
