I'm downsizing my office-related belongings to it from a vast old rolltop desk. The left side has two normal drawers (one 3" high, the other 4-1/2" high). Below them is one file drawer, 15" high. The right side has one normal drawer (3" high). Below is are two file drawers, each 10" high. My separate 2-drawer filing cabinet easily holds all my paper files.

January 8, 2009 - I bought a couple more "files" with a folder drawer on the bottom and multiple drawers on the upper half, with the intention of making another similar desk, but it hasn't happened yet. I wouldn't bother trying to clad the files... if you are going that far, then just buy good slides and good drawers boxes, etc., and don't try to hide the file cabinet.
