I've previously run a Shopify store and was very happy with their service. My only complaint is that I sold apparel which would often have more then 100 variants for one product. For example their may be a particular style of pants that I offer in 50 different size combinations but also come in 10 different colours. Shopify wouldn't allow this to be listed under one product as it exceeds the 100 variant limit and just makes the website seem a bit Micky mouse imo.

My question is, is there an e-commerce platform that would not have this issue which anyone would recommend. Magento looks like it would be good, but it isn't easy to just to get started and from what I can tell it's expensive, starting at $2,000 a month.

I’m helping a family member set up a way to sell their artwork as a side hobby. They’d like to have a website for it, but from my research, most platforms come with monthly or yearly costs.

Since this is truly a "set it and forget it" kind of side gig, they’re not interested in paying ongoing fees to maintain the site. I’m curious if there are any free website-building platforms out there that don’t charge monthly or yearly fees, but instead may take a higher cut per transaction?

For context:

• I already have a custom domain through Cloudflare.

• The priority is not spending any money on this.

• They do not want to go through Etsy, FB Marketplace, etc.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!
