Hi, just wanted to check if anyone has made use of the "50% extra trade credit towards New Releases & Preorders New Release titles are eligible up to two weeks after launch" promo at the top of this page?
I walked into GameStop today to trade in my copy of LAD Infinite Wealth. My understanding of the promo is that it would bump up the current value of this game from $20 to $30 (extra 50%) if I put the credit towards a new game or preorder. I decided to put it towards Indiana Jones (preorder).
However, when the cashier handed me the receipt it said $20. He said the bump up doesn't apply to all used games. According to him, it only applies to a situation where I buy a new game from the store, open it there and then, and then for some reason decided I didn't want it anymore and trade it in. Is this true? Who does this? Why would they run a whole promo for such a niche situation?
I wanted to cancel the trade in but he said he already processed it and refused to do anything about it, even though he admitted he should have confirmed the trade in price with me first.
I have no idea if the promo is being deliberately obtuse, I'm misunderstanding it, or if the employee was just being difficult. Hoping to see if anyone has experience with this promo?
EDIT: Thanks guys, I took my receipt back to the store and the manager fixed it for me. She confirmed that it applies to all used games. Not sure what that other employee was doing.

Gather all your stuff, including cables and controllers (if you are trading a system,) and bring it in. We love trades, we always want them. Please don't call and ask the price for 10 games you already know you are gonna trade. If you want to know prices ahead of time, use the website. Please don't format your system, we will do that for you. And super PLEASE don't bring a large trade in 20 minutes before we close.

When you get to the counter, BE BOLD! Don't just stand there looking at me holding the items. There is a large counter, pull everything out of the bags/boxes, and put it all on the counter. This may come as a shock, but we can't process your trades until you give us all the items.
2b) Did I mention put EVERYTHING on the counter? Do not put the games on the counter one at a time, slowing down the process, and making your fellow guests wait longer. Just hand us the whole pile, we like to sort them and stuff.
3) Don't waste your time telling us everything works. We will test everything.
4) Enjoy your new wealth, re-up your power up card, reserve a game and buy some fun stuff in the store!
Bonus Tip) Take a minute or two to clean up the systems, unplug the cables, maybe even give it a quick dust. If the system is dirty enough, we might have to put a defect fee on it and you will lose value. We get systems that are so dirty sometimes we need to wash are hands after touching them.

I'd like to add please don't dump all your cables into one bag without separating them with something like rubber bands, especially if you're trading in multiple systems. I don't like having to stand there trying to untangle them all.
