To address your question, I did a quick google search on my end, and below are my findings:

First of all, your GitHub profile and GitHub personal website have already been indexed on Google Search, and is searchable by other users already.

Second of all, it takes time for Google Search engine's web crawlers to crawl through websites & index them in the search engine. This process takes time, and as quoted from this documentation by Google, "it can take anywhere from a few days to weeks". Just to let you know, there isn't much the community members here can do to help expedite the process of indexing your website on Google. Just informing you in case you intend to publish new websites, you'll just have to wait patiently for your website to be indexed.

You have to create a Google Search Console account and add your page, then typically you just drop a "marker" file in the root (Search Console generates this) so that Google can confirm you really own the page.

Also, if you're going to use a registered domain name, set that up before you register the site for search.

(Edit: Technically you don't have to do this, sooner or later Google will find you... but this will give your content a much higher-quality score.)

It takes time for Google to crawl, cache, understand, and index a new site.

As your old site was on one of Google's platforms, that probably happens automatically - or perhaps more quickly.

You can probably help speed up indexing by:

1. Adding a sitemap.xml file;
2. Attaching the site to a search console with a GA script;
3. Using Search Console to submit the sitemap.

Even then it can take some time - Google literally has Billions of pages to crawl and process every day. It really is a waiting game.

Yesterday, I created my GitHub pages site 

Keep calm and wait. This helps always. Then write good content. Earn good backlinks. It can take (much) time, till you see your site in SERP. Some new sites are indexed fast - some slow.

Look at the list of same threads, https://webmasters.stackexchange.com/search?q=my+site+is+not+indexed - you'll find multiple equivalent cases with same recommendations. Keep calm, again - there is nothing weird or broken with your site.

The only thing i see - your site has nearly no content. Google should get a cause to come and to index your site. Create the cause - two sentences are too pure.

It won’t show up immediately on Google due to its sandbox feature — i.e. a test period in which Google want’s to ensure that a new website is not a search-engine trap. i.e. that as soon as it’s index it will change all its contents. We don’t know much about the details of how Google handles the whole process, but I remember when the sandbox feature first came out (a couple of decades ago) to counter the above mentioned practice (e.g. waiting for a site to be indexed for some given keywords, and then switch to different contents, often counterproductive to the keywords for which it appeared).

Before the sandbox era, you could pretty much count on your website showing up at specific dates (beginning of upcoming month) once it was crawled. Now it’s a matter of waiting, and only those at Google know how it works and how long you need to wait.

Usually, a couple of weeks should be enough for a new website to show up in search engines, a month at the most.

Google is unlikely to think that your page is a duplicate if you move it from GitHub Pages to a paid hosting service. This is because GitHub Pages are excluded from indexing by Google by default. This means that Google's crawlers will not see your page when it is hosted on GitHub Pages, so they will not be able to compare it to the same page when it is hosted on a paid hosting service.
