Switch hosting providers. GoDaddy is awful in many ways. godaddy only supports automatic certificate updates with their paid option. Apparently you can use free letsencrypt certs, but then you have to manually set up new certificates every 60-90 days to keep them valid. Even having to setup and re setup the certificate once makes it worth moving hosts, and there’s plenty of other reasons to leave godaddy. Answer from coastalwebdev on reddit.com

r/Wordpress on Reddit: GoDaddy SSL Certificate - Is there a free option?
January 19, 2023 -
Hi all,
I tried the option of ZenSSL by trying to manually set up an SSL certificate and bypass GoDaddy's SSL expensive plans, but all methods (HTTP and DNS) didn't work. My client wants the https to show up, but I'm not sure if there's any other way (besides switching hosting providers).
Any ideas?

I would switch hosts. GoDaddy charges fees for things like SSL and Domain Privacy that many of their competitors offer for free. For better WP hosting, try Cloudways. Kinsta and WPengine have good offerings if you want something less hands on.

r/webhosting on Reddit: Alternatives for Godaddy's $99 SSL certificate?
May 8, 2023 -
Time to renew the SSL certificate for my godaddy's hosting account, and don't think I an afford $99 for the annual renewal. If I let it expire and go back to no SSL at all, will it hurt my traffic or give warnings to visitors?
If I must have one, are there cheaper alternatives? Thanks

Let's Encrypt SSL certificates are absolutely free. They're sponsored by Mozilla, Google, Akamai, Vultr, Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), and a lot more companies, and recommended by basically everyone in this sub. I also recommend switching from GoDaddy. Their hosting is absolutely terrible, overpriced, oversold, and slow. I recommend the sidebar hosts, and you'll also most likely save money. Some good hosts on the sidebar are Krystal (US & UK servers), and Zume (UK servers only) depending on your pricing. Krystal and Zume automate Let's Encrypt SSL certificates in cPanel ( cPanel is the same panel as your GoDaddy hosting uses). I also recommend switching your registrar to another company. This way you'll save lots more money. Don't use the same host as your registrar, you can separate them (they connect via nameservers). Some registrars I recommend are Porkbun or Spaceship as they're very cheap.
