Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding a situation I don’t quite understand. I’ve had a Google Play Console developer account since 2019, which contains several apps I developed. However, I no longer actively use this account as I’ve transitioned to working with Xcode and iOS development.

Recently, I’ve been receiving numerous emails and messages from individuals and companies offering significant amounts of money—ranging from $1,500 to $2,000—to purchase my Play Console account. I find this unusual and concerning, as I don’t understand their motives.

When I inquired why they couldn’t simply create their own developer account for $25, I was told that Google’s policies have changed and now require 14 testers to upload apps, among other reasons that don’t entirely convince me.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could clarify what might be happening. This situation feels like a significant red flag, especially since my account is verified with my personal information and address. Selling it under these circumstances seems potentially illegal and highly suspicious right? or its just a usual safe market trend?

Its a scam. They would upload malicious apps from your account. Don’t do it your account would get banned.

I saw many posts/ads related to buying existing Google Play Console account... even a lot of job posts on freelancing websites!

Shenanigans. Malware, scams, banned developers etc.

They are usually bad actors. Probably their account was terminated and they are looking for a "clean" account to publish their malware and get away with it a little longer. Never sell or rent your account to anybody. Never buy it either. You can transfer apps between accounts, if you wanna sell your app that's an option. The account should never be sold.
