February 7, 2021Can't add payment method to Google Play!
Well that runs into another problem - I can't get any paid apps. They don't show up in search, and if I navigate to their pages directly, it tells me I'm not in the right country. I've downloaded some of these paid apps on my iPad, so I doubt they genuinely are region locked. I had hoped adding a payment method would make it recognize my location.

You should probably just contact the app developer. Some apps take the stupid approach to security and use a whitelist of Android build IDs to determine legitimacy. And because Pocophone is a relatively unknown manufacturer they maybe didn't make the list. More on reddit.com

Google are very cunning at holding onto debit/credit card details to charge the card later on.
Going to "more payment settings" doesn't get me anywhere, it only to gets me to G Pay which asks me to add another payment method, but there is no removal option.
Does anyone know a method to remove debit card details from google play?
