Product feed for Google Merchant
You can try it. However, you don't really need it if you already have a good SEO plugin with JSON-LD. Google Merchant Center has an option to build your products list based on Google Search Console indexed results. The advantage is that you don't to use plugins to create required or missing items if the SEO aspect is already configured for WC on your website and you have your products and their respective properties well configured through the SEO functionality. Except for inventory and availability as Google indexing may have outdated data. More on reddit.com

How important are various Merchant Center Feed Attributes in your opinion?
Your shopping feed is basically conversion data in 2024. Not filling out all attributes possible is leaving money on the table. Especially for GTIN. We have seen clients sell just about anything under the sun and get better performance once GTIN gets added to the shopping feed. Not filling out colour, material, pattern ...ect is leaving it to Google to hope they figure out those attributes for each SKU based on the rest of your feed and whatever is on your product images. Just like in an ad account, sometimes what seems like a small change can have the biggest impact on your performance. Better to fill out the feed attributes vs leaving it up to Google. Plus the best way to scale shopping campaigns is going after every search possible. More on reddit.com

r/PPC on Reddit: How To Create a Google Shopping Feed not with all products but a selection or collection
November 9, 2023 -

I understand the Shopify documentation and that I can have a Merchant Center Feed including all products in my shopify inventory: https://www.shopify.com/blog/google-shopping-product-data-feed

However, Imagine I have like 2000 products but only want to target selected products in my PMax Campaign in Google Ads.

Is there the possibility to have category tags corresponding to the Shopify Collection or upload a specific feed that is only one collection to make sure I don't run ads for all 2000 products but only selected products/collections?

Thanks in advance.

I have allt he necessary ones and also:

  • GTIN where possible (however, it's hard to find and a lot of work)

  • Google Product Category

I am missing:

  • Color (but it is part of the title)

  • Material (most of the time part of the title)

  • Pattern (but also in title if relevant)

I think I am well set like this and I don't thing that the missing Color or Pattern attributes are hindering the performance.

Do you agree/disagree and what other recommendations do you have?

r/TechSEO on Reddit: Any SEO benefit to having Google Merchant Center product feed setup?
March 30, 2020 -

Hi all,

I know Google Merchant Center is for managing product feeds to be used for Google Shopping Ads - but are there any known SEO benefits from having a shops products available in this format? I don't often see it referred to in the SEO community - so is it solely for those looking to run PPC advertising?

I know there's also a Google Manufacturer Center - maybe that is the tool which can hold more SEO value (seems to be a place where you can control product info as the manufacturer of a product).

Thanks in advance!
