r/weddingplanning on Reddit: Garden party wedding groom attire
July 14, 2024 -
Hello! I’m trying to decide what to wear to my wedding. It’ll be warm and mid day/early evening with a garden party vibe. Is a tux too dressy? I’ve tried on colored suits and I feel like a clue character in them, I don’t wanna do anything too basic either, I wanna sorta stand out from the guests. But is a tux too stand out? Is it okay since I’m the groom? Any other suggestions? Right now I’m thinking like a light ish blue. Not dumb and dumber but more like a heathered/robins egg. I’m all over the place lol someone help! TIA

Navy is a classic, goes well with green tones, and you can wear it again.

Traditionally a tuxedo isn't worn until the evening, if that makes a difference for you. But I don't see why you have to come up with some oddball suit color. If you're buying, you'll get little use out of a light blue suit, and if you're renting, it's going to look like prom night. Why not just wear a nice navy suit, which is like the equivalent of a little black dress for a woman? You can use a tie and a boutonniere to bring in whatever colors you all have chosen.

This option works especially well for beach weddings, where the color echoes the ocean backdrop, or for any groom whose personal style leans more expressive than traditional. Light Grey Suit A light grey suit is the guest's go-to at casual summer weddings. This color thoughtfully avoids the more common wedding party hues (navy, blue, black) while still looking appropriate and seasonally relevant. It's particularly flattering in natural light, making it ideal for daytime ceremonies and outdoor receptions.

November 9, 2020 - Whether you’re saying “I do” on a tropical island or in the summer heat, sunglasses are guaranteed to provide both shade and style. Not to mention, your wedding portraits will turn out much better because you won’t have to squint into the sunlight. ... Is there anything more freeing than running around barefoot? While not all grooms have the luxury of taking off their shoes, if you’re hosting beachside or backyard nuptials, going shoeless is a fun way to de-formalize your dress code.
