Very likely not. Hexagon tile is more classic, depending on the color and material. As someone pointed out, Saltillo is timeless. But, it’s really only timeless in a home whose architecture style has historically used it. You can make any shape trendy, depending on size, material, and color. If you have a Spanish or Mediterranean home style, Saltillo hexagon is a perfect choice, no matter the year. Saltillo in 12x24 would look out of place in everything except perhaps a modern Spanish home(?). Make your tile choices simple. Use neutrals that work with your other hard finishes. Don’t opt for an extravagant or busy pattern. Add color and interest in your less permanent choices, like rugs, art, and soft furnishings.
