I recently purchased PS5 and currently I am playing Forbidden West. It seems to me that the battery lasts shorter than on my 3-year old controller on PS4.

I never really timed how long it precisely lasts but my approx. is around 6-8 hours.

Yeah, I don't think it lasts as long but there's more going on inside the controller ,the vibrations are more complicated etc so it'll drain battery more.

It really depends on the game. The ones that make better use of the rumble and triggers won't last as long... maybe 6 hours. Then other games that don't use them much can get another couple hours out of a charge. That's what I've seen in my experience, having owned two Dualsense since launch.
