Forgive me, this is like half r/AL and half r/internetparents material. I was trying to find out how much it would cost to get my car registered in Alabama when I move. I know it'll vary a bit from county to county, but all I could find was something about a $23 dollar fee plus some other admin fee that was a couple bucks. There's no way that's all it's going to cost, right?
EDIT 3/3/25: I ended up getting a letter in the mail that the city had received my info and my car was ready to be registered. Nothing required on my end to receive the letter other than the paperwork filled out at the dealer. To register you bring the car to Madison County Service Center, bring a pic of the vin, driver's license, and proof of insurance.
OG:
I know this isn't a Huntsville specific question but I like you guys more.
I bought a car from a dealer in Texas. I paid Alabama tax to that dealer, so I'm assuming the tax portion of the sale is handled. I have insurance on the car, a valid Alabama driver's license, and proof that I live at my address. Is a copy of the title necessary? I don't own the car outright (first car loan ever RIP) so this version of registering a car is new to me.
