I am currently dealing with a company that repeatedly sends me texts. For reasons I wont go in to, I cant change my number (well, its a last option) with them or put in a complaint (yet), so I am trying to completely block their number from texting me.

I've tried the advice:

Tap on a message from a number you’d like to block in the Messages app
Tap the contact icon just above the number at the top
Choose info near the top
In iOS 13 tap the arrow to the right of the number, in iOS 14 tap info again
Toward the bottom of your screen tap Block this Caller

However I am still getting the notification icon in messages (red (1) circle).

I wish to completely block them, no notifications, nothing.

Any ideas how to do this?

You can try Pure SMS? https://apps.apple.com/us/app/puresms/id1492161583 Make sure “Unknown and SPAM” is enabled in Settings>iMessage and that Pure SMS is turned on in that menu. What’s strange is that I don’t have to do any of this. When I block a contact I don’t even get any message.
