okay so netflix switches from a standalone app to a web wrapper. cool, you want it to be easier for the devs, i get that. but at least figure a way to keep download support. is there any crazy web extension or something that i could use to bring it back? im not interested in pirating and the old version doesn't work anymore.

You don't, they've deprecated it. Your best hope is complaining to customer services and hope they bring it back, but I wouldn't put money on it.
