So apparently the command is
./configure --prefix=/Users/(username)/path/to/wherever --enable-shared
I just made a new folder and stuck Python in there. After that I just had to change the PATH variable and it worked fine from the terminal as well.

This worked for me, i am able to bring up a python shell , create a virtualenv and pip install
cd ~/Downloads
curl -L -O https://www.python.org/ftp/python/3.10.4/python-3.10.4-macos11.pkg
mkdir -p /Users/volden/opt/Python.framework
cd /Users/volden/opt/Python.framework
xar -xf ~/Downloads/python-3.10.4-macos11.pkg
for i in `find . | grep Payload`; do mv
i.gz; gunzip $i.gz; done
for i in `find . | grep Payload`; do cpio -iv < $i ; done
export DYLD_FRAMEWORK_PATH=/Users/volden/opt:$DYLD_FRAMEWORK_PATH
export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=/Users/volden/opt/Python.framework/Versions/3.10/lib:$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH
Without the second export there will be SSL errors , “import ssl” will spew errors unable to load libssl dylib
Others have mentioned using virtualenv or pyvenv. That has its advantages, but if you want a quick and dirty solution, you can use the --user option to easy_install to install packages without admin rights. It installs it somewhere under your home directory.

Just install virtualenv once, then work on local environments. It's a good practice too.
Can’t install python on my work computer due to IT lockdown and requiring admin credentials. Any suggestions for a newbie looking to learn?

Is there a way to install python 3 on a system without admin access.
I think Anaconda has an option to be installed for an individual user, rather than system-wide, and that doesn't need admin access.
More on reddit.comIm sorry I might be stupid and this might be impossible but how do I download it on my computer when I don’t have admin privileges? Or is there some other python thing that I can download to get around admin privileges
As the title says, I can’t install python on my computer. Are there other ways to get access to python? Perhaps a web based version or portal? Thank you.
Hi everyone, I want to learn Python during some free time at work and while commuting, but I can only use my work laptop. I don’t have admin rights and I can’t get IT to install Python for me. I tried the without admin versions and some other suggestions from older threads, but I couldn’t get pip or packages working properly I’m looking for a reliable way to get hands-on Python practice (running scripts, installing basic packages like requests/pandas, etc.) within my user account without coming into crosshairs of our IT team. Has anyone successfully set up a fully working Python environment (with pip) on a corporate locked-down Windows PC. Any working step-by-step solutions would be greatly appreciated!
You could try python virtual environments, which is probably good practice even if you have admin rights. Here is a good guide to python virtual environments: http://docs.python-guide.org/en/latest/dev/virtualenvs/
You can try downloading the .zip from the python website https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-371/ under files.
Although you won't find IDLE as a part of this python by default. You can use any other IDE or just cmd.
I am looking at my friend right now manually naming 500 folders with peoples names and now he has to move a unique txt file manually into each folder again. I want to help him so bad it's literally a 15 second job with python but I can't install it on his work computer. Is there any way around this? Their system is windows 7.

You can create an exe file from your script using pyinstaller and provide that exe to your friend. No need to install python interpreter on their machine.
