Putting 5 string and 4 sticks in a crafting table like so:

would allow you to craft a fishing net.
Fishing nets placed in the water at a river, ocean, or swamp biome have a chance of catching a fish.(must be placed on a block that is under the water and have at least one source block of water above them. so this is more practical for the shore when considering the ocean biomes)
Kind of similar to crops growing, you have to be within the chunk update radius. Also similar to crops growing, catching a fish takes 24k -72k ticks (10-30 minutes).
The fishing nets will need to have a max capacity maybe 5 is reasonable (keep in mind that each of those fish will still take 10-30 minutes to catch, we're not catching all 5 at once)
Unlike fishing with a rod, there are no enchantments, no chance of catching loot, and fish aren't caught within seconds, so the fishing rod will still have complete relevance. This just simply offers a way to obtain fish without swimming around in the water with a bucket forever, or taking time to fish. I honestly hate doing both. The price to pay is material to craft the nets and the wait time.
Also, thoughts on what flair would be appropriate for this post? I'm still really new to this sub

Introducing the Net!
The Net is an item idea that I have had in the works for a bit. It is essentially an item that can be used to pick up mobs and move them to other locations. Below are the crafting recipe and my imagined specifications, any of which can be improved/changed!

Net Specifications

Can only move Passive or Ambient Mobs (Pigs, Sheep, Cows, Bats, etc).

Can only move one mob at a time.

If the player takes damage, there is a small percent chance (something like 5%-10%) of the mob being freed.

I'm thinking there could also be some enchantments to go with it but I can't think of anything specifically off the top of my head.

I'm also thinking that it could have a right click ability to toss the animal in the net a short distance but I'm still unsure about that one.
Criticism Welcome! I tried to keep the Net Balanced but useful. Transporting mobs always seems to be trouble for players so when this idea popped into my head I decided it deserved to be shared. This would improve the time it takes to make farms as well as allows players to have a little more fun with mobs in Minecraft.
TLDR: I created a new item for the game called the net which would act like any other tool but it allows you to pick up passive/ambient mobs and move them to other locations one at a time.
Edit: Removed the need to keep the net out to hold a mob.
