Currently I'm hosted with a service that pushes to Spotify and others, but will I be able to earn money that way or would it be better to host directly on Spotify as well as the other site pushing out elsewhere?
Hey all! I have a youtube channel that does okay, and i have been reuploading videos on spotify aswell (under a podcast). I applied for ambassador ads but was rejected and have absolutely no idea why (this was back in march). Is there any way that i can possible monetize it? since i get around 10,000 ish plays per episode? thanks!

My cohost and I have been using Spotify for podcasters to release our pod, we are still fairly new and are trying to reach the monetization goal so we can do self read ads. Since we started it was supposed to be 100 Spotify listeners in 60 days. I just checked our status and now it is saying 1000 listeners in 60 days! Did we miss some announcement that this was changing?
I just started my first podcast on Spotify, and I’m pretty new to this whole thing. I hope to get some advice on making money from it. Most of my listeners are from Europe and the U.S., but I’m based in Asia. Any tips on how I can monetize my podcast? I would love to hear your experiences!
Hi everyone!
I've gotten so much great info from reading through all posts in this community. Very appreciative!
I am almost ready to upload, but I'm stuck trying to choose a hosting platform...
My podcast has a mental health topic related to my business. I do not expect to make money for the first year or so, but definitely looking to (even slightly) monetize in the future.
I intend to make weekly 15-20 minute podcast episodes, and I will record both audio and video (going to post video on my youtube channel).
Am currently deciding between Spotify and Podbean, but also open to other options if there's a compelling reason.
While this is an investment for my business, I do not want to pay monthly or yearly fees if it's not actually necessary...so leaning towards Spotify unless there's a reason not to.
Thoughts?
Thanks all!
I tried looking at monetization options for my podcast on Spotify and looks like it’s not available in India.
This is a little hard to believe given the number of people who open their podcasts.
What am I missing?
I am planning to start a technical podcast with one of my friend (he is already having good traffic in YT) and would like to monetize it. Not sure what all platforms support these features. I know Spotify or Youtube can help but is there any other platform which you can use to earn from podcast. Spotify does not allow to set price of specific episodes/podcast. YT can help to earn by Ad revenue only.
Following monetization options we are considering.
-
Sell specific episodes with some amount. Think like comedy show
-
Sell bundle of episodes as a promotion.
-
User have option to choose payment gateway based on their country.
-
Other basic features of podcast hosting like get RSS, share it (after x days of release) with Spotify/YT.
Podcast for 6 months and see if you're still into it and have good enough downloads to even consider monetization at that point.
Because if you're starting a podcast with the goal to make money, prepare to fail.
Membership is a great method for monetizing the podcast off of YouTube. Ads can be great as well, but you can always combine the two if it makes sense for your show.
You can offer premium episodes via a separate subscription and monetize the listeners directly with platform like Patreon or Podcastpage.
Disclosure - I'm the founder of Podcastpage.io which is a website builder for podcasters with subscription/monetization options.
I produce a podcast with ~1.6k followers and ~300 plays per episode on Spotify and growing. I know these numbers are not astronomical (yet) but it does feel like it's time to take the pod to the next level and try and turn it into a source of revenue for the host. I have doubts though:
-
Will ads (host read or not) alienate the audience?
-
Episodes go for an average of ~20 mins, is that too short for ads?
-
Can we choose what brands / companies get to promote their products or services?
-
How do we get the attention of potential sponsors?
-
What's the best hosting platform for ads? Speaker? Others?
-
What about subscriptions?
If it matters, the podcast is in Italian and targeting the Italian market
TIA for any thoughts, tips or advice. I appreciate it.
A few of you know that ever since I added my podcast feed to spotify my traffic has doubled. Now I'd say it's probably 5-6x it's original levels. Still not anywhere near the big dogs, but yesterday with all my traffic sources combined I got a new high of nearly 900 downloads. Makes me happy!
Typically I get between 300-700 downloads per day now (about 70% of that coming from spotify)
My question is, what are the best ways to monetize and how?
Some of my ideas:
I have my own digital products which I plan to push more over the coming months. Right now I don't mention them except sporadically on the podcast.
I also have an email list that I try and get people to sign up for and then give helpful info and sell products. I don't sell too much through my list. :(
I'm not opposed to sponsorships, but I don't even know how to find someone, or if my traffic levels would be appealing to a sponsor.
I'm happy with the amount of traffic my podcast is getting especially since I spent more than a year getting 10-20 downloads an episode. But sometimes I wonder if the traffic is high quality?
My website traffic has increased some, but not drastically. I also don't have many consistent sales of my products.
What do you all do to make money with a podcast? My first goal right now is to make it so my business is not constantly losing money each month. To do that would require about $270 a month. I feel like I should be able to do that with this traffic?
What am I doing wrong?
For the podcast I host (The Pavocado Podcast), I mention to my listeners briefly at the beginning and ending of our episodes that I have a Patreon set up for the podcast that they can donate to. I think that’s definitely a sustainable option if you can convert some of your listeners into pledges
How to make money from your tiny podcast is a good resource on this.
I use buzzsprout to host my podcast. I entered the RSS feeds and so it's pushing out everywhere. I came across a video mentioning that Spotify pays per listen...how would I go about receiving that money? The podcast currently doesn't have a spotify account.
I'm looking to monetize my podcast, but I don't know the best service to accomplish that. My audience is growing substantially in the past few weeks. Any help is welcome.
Hello all, asking help when it comes to monetization of my podcast. How does monetization work? It says, Monetization features are not yet available in your region. Does spotify only have monetization features in the US? Or do I have to wait for a good amount of audience to avail it? Do I need to vpn to avail monetization?
