My newer delta shower faucet is already dripping when turned off so I am going to replace the cartridge. When I checked the handle there is no set screw but a small rubber feeling plug that feels spring loaded.

Looking at the delta website, they describe this as a push-fit handle that requires no tools. They have 2 sets of instructions. One says pull straight out from the faucet and the handle will release. The other says align the handle with the spout and pull straight out until the handle releases. They do mention it will take some force when pulling.

I have tried both ways with no luck. I am pulling hard enough that the side of the shower and faucet are flexing out some and still getting no movement from the handle. I'm afraid to pull any harder and cause damage to the faucet.

Is anybody familiar with these that could give me some advice?

Like the title says, I need to get to valve to replace it but the handle is calcified to stem. I’ve repaired this in the past but that was almost 10 years ago snd it’s really jammed on there now. I’m afraid to use too much force because that leads to total replacement of the shower valve control fixture and that involves drywall and pipes and soldering etc which is more than I can handle right now.

So how can I remove the handle to get to the cartridge?

BTW, I tried using vinegar to soak it and had no luck.

Hi there. I’m replacing a 20 year old delta shower trim with new delta. If I remove this old cartridge, will the new one install without changing out anything else? My hope is to pull out the old cartridge and install the new. Thoughts?
