I’m going to be buying a bunch of Ikea furniture, but their dresser reviews have me wary. Truthfully, I was planning on getting just the dresser from Home Depot instead, but they don’t have in-home delivery for some reason.

My question is, is it even worth it to get a dresser from Ikea these days or am I just going to be frustrated with the inefficient drawers and regret my purchase? Is there any alternative, like maybe getting a Kallax with fabric bins?

I would only be storing clothes in it, so I don’t need something heavy duty, just some kind of receptacle that I can actually fully get in to on a daily basis.

Looking at most of the dressers that I like, many/most of the reviews for the last 6 months are saying that they're suddenly much worse? Did IKEA suddenly go to crap the last year? I was thinking of driving down and picking up a "Storklinta" but there are only 2 reviews now and these other ones are worrying me.

Malm 2.8/5 "you are liars, you left the dimensions of the old chest of drawers on the website, but now a new one is being delivered and it is terrible. the new chest of drawers is completely unsuitable for use, huge in size and tiny space inside for things. in addition, it is of terrible quality compared to the old models. bring back the old version and discontinue this new crap. Please, no one buy this new version, it costs no more than $100, but not $300. I have 3 chests of drawers of the previous model in my house and they are great, but the new model is complete crap. who will pay me for the time and gas to return this junk back to the store???"

Other Malm 3.6/5 "My partner and I both have the Malm 4-drawer chest from years ago and were extremely disappointed to receive this one for our apartment. It is MUCH smaller than the older Malms (both in terms of height and the size of the drawers themselves/how much they can hold). The assembly is confusing. The (small) drawers do not come out all the way, meaning you will be unable to see all of the clothes you have stored in there. Overall, truly disappointed with the newest edition of the dresser and will think twice before ordering a dresser from Ikea in the future."

Brimnes 3.3/5 "We have a total of 7 of these dressers in our house and have been happy with them. We recently purchased another one for our growing boys and the drawers open much less than the originals. So much less its hard to put clothes in and out. I talked with Ikea about it and they said it was updated to prevent tip over even with it being attached to the wall. (ours are attached to the wall) Do not buy and we'll be returning it after assembly. Not worth it!"
