I know this is an older post but i figured i would give my experience as a fat person in case someone else looking to buy this bed happens to be fat and stumbles across this post :) in my experience, my partner (~245lbs, just over 6 foot) and I (~305lbs, 5'10") have both cracked slats, and broken it somehow, seemingly just by existing. the most fragile part is the center line on the trundle/drawer side of the bed. it's their bed, so it makes me feel terrible, but I know its not my fault, as it feels to me like it's supposed to be a children's bed? comparatively, my bed is a queen size with a solid steel frame, no wood in sight, and while sometimes squeaky (maybe wd-40 would fix that lol) it's sturdy as hell and supports both of us, we could both stand on it and be fine aside from probably losing some balance. [edit: my bed was about a total of ~$300 with the frame being $180. the hemnes bed, to me, feels incredibly overpriced for what it is. i know it has an extra feature of being a ~pull out bed~ but in my inexperienced and unprofessional opinion, that doesnt justify the price when its so flimsy.] I dont recommend this bed if you are going to be pulling it out and pushing it in frequently (isnt that like the whole point??) or if you are fat or plus size in any capacity. this is a bed for children and very small teenagers/adults who want to keep the bed closed and/or use it VERY scarcely pulled out once every few weeks. this bed is not built for people like me, and that is okay. I just wish IKEA would mention that on their website so people wouldn't have to come to reddit to find out if the bed they want is going to support them Answer from Eonimv on reddit.com
