I'm getting quotes for some work of a full kitchen remodel. Anybody use them? Horror stories? Good experiences?

Can’t speak to the design and process but we bought a house with a newly remodeled IKEA kitchen. We liked the aesthetic but were hesitant because we had heard that IKEA was of lesser quality. We have been in the house four years now and honestly if we were ever to buy a new house or remodel this one again, we would consider IKEA as an option. Everything has held up nicely and the previous owners left us the folder from the design/consultation with all information making the couple pieces we have had to replace or upgrade very easy to find. The receipt was included as well and the whole remodel with cabinets, counters, sink, faucets, appliances (fridge, oven, dishwasher, range, and microwave) was less than $10k. Also there is a company that retrofits IKEA hardware with higher end carpentry. I'm curious to see color combinations I haven't thought of. Creative back splashes, finishes and sinks etc.

Here is my Ikea kitchen, completed a year and a half ago . I love the number of drawers we have, the ease of installation, and the durability. So far no damage at all to any of the cabinets. The cabinets cost $2,950, bought during the kitchen sale. If we did it again I think we might have bought semihandmade fronts (still white shaker). We bought semihandmade for a bathroom vanity front a few months ago and the quality seems just one small step up from the IKEA ones.

One thing I would do if I was going to do an Ikea kitchen again would be to build a base for the cabinets like this guy does in his install. He gets into building it in the second video in the series. I've found that I knock off the end caps of toe kicks on the peninsula in my kitchen fairly frequently when I'm vacuuming. My only real regret so far... Other tips: buy when they do the kitchen sale - seems to happen a couple times a year at least. We bought ours last summer and got 15% off (in July I think?). And have them break it up into a couple transactions at least so you don't end up with $1k in an Ikea gift card at the end... Also just install drawers everywhere on the bottom cabinets.
