So, some months ago I bought the Nordli three drawer chest of drawers (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/nordli-3-drawer-chest-white-s69384133/).

Unfortunately it's not big enough for me and would like to increase its storage capacity. I understand that the Nordli line is modular, but it’s not clear to me how I can mix and match the pieces.

I was thinking of buying the additional Nordli two drawer extension (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/nordli-modular-2-drawer-chest-white-70383463/).

I was wondering if these pieces can be stacked and whether I need to buy any additional pieces to make it work e.g. like the pieces on the side. Thanks in advance!

Yes, each set of drawers comes with the hardware to stack them - see bag C1/C2. The information for doing so is in the instructions for the top/base: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/assembly_instructions/nordli-top-and-base-anthracite__AA-2020763-5-2.pdf Just loosen the cam bolts holding the top piece on (turn them counterclockwise until the arrow faces up), then lift the top off. Then you can put in the bolts and dowels on the top of the 3-drawer module to stack the other one on top of it - see steps 9-13 in the top/base instructions. You may need to adjust to fit your specific setup - for example, in this case you would leave out the bolts in the middle (such as in step 10) since your drawer modules are both the same width. I would also like to add that you could keep adding more modules if you want, though note that at the beginning of the top/base instructions, Ikea recommends going no higher than 6 drawers tall. There's nothing physically stopping you from stacking higher, but you do so at your own risk.

I see online they have a 4 drawer and 8 drawer Nordli Chest. 4 is too short, 8 is to high for what I need.

Is it possible to combine two of the modular 3 drawer chests 003.834.71 together?

It seems the top/bottom would be 903.834.81 for the 4 and 8 drawer ones. The dimensions seem like they should all together the same for the 6.

Is there a way to make a nordli dresser that has a height of 5 drawers but only with the longer drawers ? So not the version with the 3 long at the bottom and then 2x2 of the smaller drawers… Everything is too short or tall for me and I have an older nordli of the 5 stacked with smaller drawers mentioned and the height is PERFECT yet seems everything is taller like the 6 drawer or shorter? Seems like there should be a way to combine a 3 + 2 drawer sets and finish it with the top and base ? Or is that crazy? I think it’s 47”… or around that… it’s the perfect height because the 6 drawer I would barley be taller than so I assume wouldn’t be to useful for me lol

Hi everyone. At the end of January I am moving to a new house. Currently my room is in a 1 1/2 story home with a very awkward staircase that I would not be able to get the Nordli bed down (I assembled it up here) and even at the new place the staircase up to my new room is staggered.

I am just wondering if anybody knows if it’s possible to disassemble this frame so it’s easier to move?

Remove the drawers. To remove them, pull them out and on each slider, on the bottom side, there is a tab that must be pushed in toward the centerline of the drawer in order to release a pin that is pushed into the drawer to keep it in place. Once both pins are released, you can lift the drawer out. Now you'll remove the two pieces that go across the feet and across the head on the top face of the bed frame (parallel to the ground, short pieces). Each has two Allen wrench screws on the top and 3 large Ikea type screws connecting it to the perpendicular piece on the end. Remove the two Allens, then loosen the 3 IKEA screws on the end piece it's connected to. Remove the board and set aside (I recommend taping the bolts to the pieces and keeping them grouped in ways that make sense, like top end of the bed and bottom end of the bed) Then you'll remove the pieces that span across the feet and head facing out from the bed frame (perpendicular to the ground). Each board has 2 screws on each side attaching it to the side sections of the bedframe. That's all that's holding them in. As you remove them, be sure to support the board since nothing else is holding it off the ground. Tape them to the board and set aside. Repeat for the other end of the bed. Then you'll remove the final two pieces at the top and bottom of the bed holding the sides together. Loosen the ones on the board you are removing. Dont worry about loosing the screws on the side section portions. Note - when you loosen the big IKEA screws, loosen them so the little arrow/triangle on them is pointing in the direction of the piece it's attached to (think of how it goes when you're installing it, just doing it backwards) Now you have 3 pcs each for the top and bottom ends of the bed and then the two side sections. You might be able to do this with taking fewer pieces apart, but that's how I did it.

Hopefully this helps someone in the future ... I was just taking apart my NORDLI king size bed.. just download the Assembly manual and reverse the steps to the point you can take it apart in the 4 big pieces... what I recommend is removing the 4x circular locking mechanisms that are buried under the sliders in the four corners of the bed and not putting them back in so the next time you don't have to unscrew the sliders
