I've always been a big picture-taker. I had a baby two months ago, and my picture-taking has increased significantly.
The iPhone 7's camera isn't cutting it for me anymore. I tried to be frugal and kept this phone for as long as possible. I'm willing to splurge for a newer iPhone, and am weighing options.

The only thing the 11 Pro has over the regular 11 is the addition of the Telephoto lens, other than that they shoot the exact same quality photos and video.

The only difference is the Telephoto camera. Unless you don't like not having the telephoto, just go for the 11.

Only if you are okay and can afford to go with spending that 300 dollars for that oled panel and another 2x telephoto camera. In my case I just purchased the 11 non pro. Portraits works the same anyways and if I want close up macro shots, I have those cheap clip-on macro lens for the job. More on reddit.com

The iPhones downfall is its sensor size and lens attachments. Their strength is Apple’s computational “photography”. Everytime you take a photo the phone processes the image, for example… taking multiple photos at once and then combine them into the single photo you see. With an actual camera and a RAW file, this would be done on photoshop/lightroom. You would need to do those steps manually whereas iPhones will do it for you. It may look similar to mirrorless cams or DSLRs but that’s at a quick glance. A RAW file will have more data to play around with and adjust in post which means you can make the image look how you want it to look. Anyhow, To answer your question, you’d need to invest maybe $500-1000. Something like a Sony a6000 with a Sony 50mm or a Sigma 16/30mm will immediately blow the iPhone out of the water… even the newest iPhone just won’t compare to the detail and quality… assuming you got your settings right! 😃👌🏻 More on reddit.com

I love hobby photography, and I travel and take photos often. My camera is getting old, and I decided to switch to only iPhone photography for now.
I was thinking about getting the iPhone 11 Pro, but the main feature I would want is the 3rd lens. Is the 3rd lens really worth the $300 upgrade for a photo-lover?

The only difference for photography is the Telephoto lens. According to Phil Schiller ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rAeqN-Q7x4&t=1h26m35s ), there's also special calibration done at the factory of the iPhone 11 Pro series cameras to make all 3 of of them more identical to one another and there's also software trickery at work to further make them all the same. In the demo, yeah, the transitions between all 3 lenses are perfectly identical. The iPhone 11 demonstration though shows a fairly obvious difference between the 2 lenses/sensors it has. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rAeqN-Q7x4&t=55m47s However, in all the YouTube videos I have watched so far comparing iPhone 11 to iPhone 11 Pro and Pro MAX (and even videos only of the Pro or Pro MAX), I have yet to see any of the Pro & Pro MAX demonstrations by customers have that awesome perfectly-matched colors and lighting like Apple's demonstration for the iPhone 11 Pro series. I've been waiting to see it demonstrated by a customer and I've been waiting for someone to mention it! I'm still waiting! Every single time I have seen the camera lens transitions demonstrated in a YouTube video from an iPhone 11 Pro or Pro MAX, I can see pretty much the same differences in color and lighting as I see on my iPhone 11. I also haven't seen anyone complain about it either. I would, but that's only because I know the transitions between the 3 lenses are supposed to be identical in appearance. So from what I've seen so far, the only difference in the camera systems is the Telephoto lens.
