Got my 13 right when it came out and mine is at 89%. I am very hard on phones though, so take it for what it is.

Ever since the iPhone 16 event on September 9th, I’ve noticed something super frustrating with my iPhone 13 Pro Max – the battery health. It was sitting at a decent 87% before the event, but now, just a little while later, it’s down to 84%. Seriously? Three percent in less than two weeks?

I’ve been super cautious about charging habits and don’t use my phone in extreme temps, I charge my phone in the morning only to 90%, and don’t use MagSafe, so I’m really not sure what’s going on here. It feels like with every new event, older models just start declining faster. Anyone else seeing this? Is this just normal wear or is it tied to these iOS updates?

I know it’s normal for batteries to degrade, but this feels way too fast. At this rate, my phone is going to need a battery replacement sooner than I thought. Should I be worried, or is this just the usual decline as it gets older?

Let me know if anyone else has experienced this sudden drop or if there’s anything I can do to slow it down.

Yeah not sure what’s going on with yours. I got my 13 in January of this year with 87% health. Now I’m at 84%.

I've had my 13 Pro Max two years and mostly I love it! Maybe because I do wireless charging the battery health has slowly gone down to 80% then stopped changing about 6-9 months ago. I have Apple Care Plus and I know Apple's policy is to only replace batteries when battery health is 79% and lower. I kind of wonder if Apple is doing something funny, making battery health STATUS INDICATOR stop at 80% to avoid changing batteries under warranty. Sounds crazy, but what do you think?

I would like to keep my 13 PM for another two years, as the 16 seems disappointing. But I'm debating if I should cancel the expensive Apple Care insurance.

Is optimized charging turned on? Settings> battery> optimized charging

You need to turn off optimised charging, charge up to 100% and force drain the battery several times per day. Also update to the latest ios to recalibrate the battery. Eventualy it will fall under 80%

So well, I charge using super charger(original one), everything is original. From cable to the charger itself

Battery is below 90%, it lasts around 4/5 hours from 100% - 0%, watching films(for 1 hour-2 hours max), browsing(3 hours-4 hours)

Is it normal?

Apple Support here. Lot of people in these comments saying it isn’t normal. It absolutely is normal. Batteries chemically age differently depending on how you use it. screen on time isn’t half as important as what you use that screen on time for. i’ve had my personal iPhone for a year and it’s still at 100% health and i leave the screen on literally all day. but if the iPhone is used for social media, streaming video and constant web browsing, the battery will age faster. all of that said, if the battery health does continue to fall and happens to dip under 80% inside of your first year (while the warranty is active) the battery replacement is free. AppleCare covers it as long as you have it.

Launch day here, mine is at 83%, still have no problems lasting a day though.

Mine is almost two years old (June 2022) and it’s down to 86%.
