Is Furmark safe for testing?
Hi i want to stress test second hand gpu with Furmark but i'm little scared from Furmark damaging it. Can it damage gpu that is at stock voltages and not overclocked? Also fans start to work at around 50c so that worries me too, so should i set them manually? More on forums.tomshardware.com

Will furmark damage my gpu?
Furmark is fine it just tends to be more intense than your average gaming session. I like that so personally I use furmark for all of my benchmarking. The only thing you need to be careful with is the cpu burner utility. Use it to test your cooling but don't leave it running for super long periods of time. More on reddit.com

Is Furmark still "dangerous"?
It was only ever dangerous on GPUs that are like 15+ years old at this point. The problem was that while those old cards measured the temperatures of the processor and would throttle themselves if it overheated, they didn't measure the temperature of the voltage regulator modules (VRMs). Some cards had little to no cooling on the VRMs, and those would overheat and break. Any card you'd be using in a modern system has temperature sensors for every part of the card that gets hot, and will throttle or shut down long before it damages itself. It is still hard on the card - but that's the point - to stress it out to the absolute maximum and make sure your card is working properly. If there issues during furmark, then you know something is wrong right away. More on reddit.com

January 12, 2023 - But FurMark is an experimental setting specifically designed to make your system crash or overheat in order to find your GPU’s threshold. Sound dangerous? It’s not. If executed safely, it’s better to stress test your GPU so you know its overclocking ability within a controlled test setting, rather than finding it out the hard way during actual usage.

November 20, 2024 -

During a 30 min stress today on my pc for stability since I updated my bios today, my brother walked into my room and said Furmark is bad for my gpu? How true is that really?

So basically, I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to my pc, and for the past month I kept checking it by doing like a 15 min full pc stress test after checking it.

Now, nothing overheated. My cpu was fine, my gpu was like 60 degrees boards, around 80 hotspot and around 76-78 memory. I have an Asus tuf RX7800XT OC so Ikd if these ar good temps or nah.

During a 30 min stress today on my pc for stability since I updated my bios today, my brother walked into my room and said Furmark is bad for my gpu? How true is that really? Is it really that abd for it compared to other stress tests?

How likely is it that these tests will affect my gpu going on from now?

Hey was wondering as the title says.

I was not aware of what furmark does i thought it was just a more reliable stress test (as ive been told) but apparently its harsh on the gpu.

I ran it for 1 hour 30 mins before i knew that and nothing happened but did i damage it at all? Got to like 70c at most through the whole test.
