Setting up autopay with your various utilities/vendors (i.e. electric bill, garbage bill, home insurance, cable bill, etc.) thru the bill pay portal on your online banking app - OR - setting up autopay on the vendor’s website where you enter your checking account info into their system?
By “more secure” I mean which better protects your account from being hacked or getting fraud against it. I would guess doing it thru your online banking app directly from your account would be safer, but perhaps that safety is an illusion?
What are the risks of paying bills with a debit card on vacation?
What is the most secure payment method?
Is it harder to pay bills while overseas?
There is no 2 factor authentication even.
Everyone knows Routing Numbers, and bank account numbers can be easily found.
I tried to search for an answer on Google, but there's not really a clear answer. Is there any problems with using my savings account for paying my electric bills, credit card bills, etc.? Traditionally, you would use a checking account to pay your bills and for spending, but with the changes to Regulation D, there is not a limit of 6 withdrawals from my bank. FYI, I bank with SoFi's Checking and Savings account. Is there anything I should be concerned about with putting all of my bills to be automatically drawn from my savings account? I figured it would avoid overdrafting from my checking account if I forget to move money into it. I also use the Vault feature with SoFi to easily maintain my emergency fund.
Any insight on this would be helpful! :)
