All across America, people have lovely marble backsplashes above stoves, unsullied by horrible yellow grease stains. We wondered if ours had been sealed improperly. We phoned the installer, who said (no surprise) that he was shocked by this problem and had never heard of it before.

Those of you with marble backsplashes ...
5 yrs into the kitchen remodel...not a stain or an etch on my marble backsplash. I’m a pretty careful cook though. I wipe up any splatter right away. I did have the tile guy come back and put a second coat of sealer on shortly after the first application though.

November 24, 2024 -

I'm trying to find backsplash tiles that my husband and I both like which is not easy. The ones we agree on most are marble. I'm looking for shorter tile approx 2x6in. Polished picket or similar that has variations of white. I'm worried about having to seal marble and possible staining. If you have a marble backsplash, do you regret it? I'm wondering if I should keep searching for ceramic or porcelain.
