Hi! I’m a recent transplant from MN to Long Beach and as much as I’m loving CA, I’m missing the greenery/nature in MN. My family and I are looking to buy a home within an hour of LA, an hour to the beach, and a Mountain View for under $1mil. I know this is a hefty ask but I recently came across Silverado and it seems like a really good option! I’m curious to know:

-how diverse the schools are? I’m black and my son is biracial -how is the actual commute to LA/the beach? -I’m a bleeding liberal, should I be nervous?

The 900-foot shaft of the Carbondale mine soon yielded six to ten tons daily. Two boom towns arose—one centered on silver and the other on coal.

The Silverado Mining Boom of 1878
Anaheim, Westminster, Santa Ana, Orange, Tustin, Newport, Downey and other towns in the county are largely represented, and when early winter rains give warning that the soil is once more ready for the plow, there will be a very general temporary abandonment of the various claims, unless, indeed, a mill is by that time established, and the ore is found to be as rich as is now supposed…. “The town of Silverado is as unlike a mining camp as could well be imagined.
