Can I reverse a transaction with my kid's debit card?
When should I give my child a debit card?
- They start going out for social activities without you present.
- When they start high school, or if they take public transportation to get to school.
- They start wanting or needing to buy things when you're not with them.
What if my child makes a transaction with their debit card that I'm not happy with?
I have a 10 year old who gets weekly allowance. Both he and I agree cash is a pain in the butt. I never have it on hand to pay him and he doesn't like having all the physical bills. He asked if he could have a debit card after seeing an ad for Greenlight. We looked into this but seen there is a minimum $6/mo fee just to have the card. Are there other free options where it wont matter if the balance goes to $0? I thought about getting him a reloadable VISA gift card but not sure how that works long term either.
Looking for recommendations. my oldest has been going out places with her friends and I’d like to have a way to give her some money without handing her cash or one of my cards. Can anyone recommend a good debit card for someone under 13? EDITED TO ADD My bank doesn’t offer any accounts or cards for those under 16. I’m aware of various prepaid cards that are geared toward kids but have seen mixed reviews on most of them.
