Looking for what seems like it should be a simple item - platform wood, comes in king-size, and can comfortably hold about 425 pounds of humans on a regular basis (myself, my husband and sometimes our son) without breaking in 2 years. Thuma is what we want but seems like it doesn’t hold up as well as one would hope for the price?
Willing to spend up to $3k for an amazing bed. Also taking personal recommendations for someone who might build this kind of bed in MA or reasonable driving distance in New England.

Check your local trade school. Ours has a furniture shop and teaches wood finishing skills the furniture is top notch with real hardwoods. They allow students to make commissioned pieces. They have a yearly furniture sale and the gallery is stunning. My nephew made a gorgeous bedroom set that cost about 2800$. It has a king headboard, footboard, night stands and xl dresser. It’s made of lacquered painted maple ply and finished with quarter sawn black walnut. It will last generations. The teacher is a master craftsman and makes sure all the pieces are perfect. The cost is much less than for furniture store prices and is much higher quality. The furniture is also completely unique and the students draft their own plans. It helps local students and you get quality furniture out of it.

Hi, We are in Canada and looking for a king size bed frame including head board. Our budget is within $1000 CAD.
We went to Bricks, Leons, Ashley’s but weren’t happy with either the quality or service. Most of the salesmen were faking based on their sweet talks! Also did some research and found that either the quality is not good or very late delivery(Leons). We already have Ikea bed in one room but planning to goto a different and well made brand this time. We saw Thuma, it seems to be good but beyond our budget.
Almost ordered one upholstered bed from Costco which we fell in love with but saw many reviews that it’s breaking apart.
Can anyone please share the model of your king bed frame and the place you bought?

If you know someone who can build it for you, or you can do it on your own, is the best way. A bed frame is one of the simplest things you can make yourself out of wood and it makes such an insane difference.
