Grinding to $1,000,000 in revenue over 6 years
November 23, 2021 - That year, Shift made $126,000. Again, a good salary, but not more than a job. Yet in 2020, Shift made $267,000. Over a 2x increase. I expect another similar increase in 2022 with the release of Laravel 9.

Laravel raises a $57 million series A from Accel – what about Django?
I don’t think raising money is a victory lap. Also consider Laravel is essentially run by one person while Django is a non profit run by a community. Different approaches. More on reddit.com
Is Laravel Cloud generally more expensive than Laravel Vapor?
Obviously depends on your setup but we recently switched to cloud from vapor at the beginning of the year. My app is heavily queue based and we noticed significant savings on compute. So far it's been a much better experience More on reddit.com
Growing list of profitable business built on Laravel
We built https://dirtmatch.com/ in Laravel. It pays for itself and then some. The best part is we are just some retired dudes. Laravel makes it easy for us to do a little work and then go fishing. :) More on reddit.com
Do Laravel devs get paid less?
Without context, it's hard to tell why. My bet is that, being an easy and RAD type of framework, Laravel tend to be used more in agency type of works. More and smaller projects/sites, usually done by junior level devs, which lowers the average... Just like Wordpress. I'm sure there are people who use Laravel in big companies for big projects, but I don't think that's a big market that would overcome the amount of smaller projects. Edit: I forgot to mention, we also need to consider the availability of devs. I'm sure there are way fewer Django and RoR devs then Laravel. This also helps lower the average. Also, salaries change a lot over the world and Laravel could be used more on lower paying countries... Yeah, it's very hard to do any direct comparison... More on reddit.com

How Much Does a Laravel Developer Make?
July 15, 2025 - With the rise of tools like ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and Laravel-specific code generators, some developers fear that AI will reduce salaries. But the opposite may be happening: Speeding up boilerplate code generation. Creating tests, migrations, and scaffolds quickly. Assisting with documentation and refactoring. Rather than replacing developers, AI is increasing their productivity, making them capable of delivering more value per hour. This raises their market worth—especially for freelancers and consultants who charge based on output rather than time.

Laravel has pulled in $57M from Accel, and it’s got me wondering on why isn’t Django receiving similar financial recognition? What’s holding Django back, and how do we as a community make sure we stay competitive? Thoughts?

Let's see if Laravel users think the investment was a good idea in 3 - 5 years. VC doesn't give you $57 M to make the product better, it's to monetize it. It's to make Laravel worth $1B. Many of the things they will have to do to make that money and see that growth are going to be detrimental to the average Laravel user.
