This will be a little bit of a bigger project than those are eluding too. Yes it's pretty simply if your studs are in the right place, like if there was one previous and you wanted to upgrade or in the case of a single sink Since it's a double vanity, the chance that both sides studs are in the right place isn't likely, making you have to move the mirrors away from the desired location, thus a bad look. Which would require studs to be moved or cut and cross beams added, which isnt super difficult if you have the right tools. But it obviously makes it a bit more involved, certainly a lot more involved than just slapping a cabinet on the walls with some screws. More on reddit.com

I'd like to install a 36"wide x 30" tall recessed medicine cabinet. We just tore apart our bathroom this weekend.
In this photo https://imgur.com/a/P2U6qZJ you can see there was already a framed out hole, presumably from a previous recessed cabinet. I outlined in purple the approximate area I would have to frame out for the new cabinet. The right side is pretty much exact, but would it be a problem cutting into the wood on the left side? There is a couple of electrical wires there but could be moved. I'm not 100% sure it isn't a load bearing wall. Is there any way to tell for sure? There is an office on the other side of that room, and then a living room on the other side of the right wall. Is there anything else I should look out for when installing this?

I would seek further opinions but looking at your picture it appears that you have discovered an old door way framed with a header and it should not be too troublesome to expand that opening. If I was doing it I would replace the header with one that accommodates your desired opening with a single jack/king stud combo on each side then frame it in like a window to keep your stud placement for sheetrock. If your worried about the load you could use a double jack stud on each side. Again, I would seek advice from others, preferably a general contractor in your area
