Disclaimer: This is my thoughts on my situation. Everyone’s situation may be different.
I recently reviewed my Nectar mattress. The tl;dr is that it was great in the beginning, but has heavily sagged since around the one year mark. I heavily regret not returning it. The issue is that this caused me to sleep in the mattress resulting in awful back pain. Cheap hotel beds felt a million times more comfortable than the sagging Nectar. As a result, I ordered a Sleep On Latex firm mattress topper (3 inch thickness) and it has been amazing!
I have been sleeping on my Nectar mattress with Sleep On Latex firm mattress topper for just over two weeks now. My daily back pain that I became accustomed to waking up to from the Nectar mattress is gone. That’s it! Worth every penny just for that. I’m hoping it will stay this way for at least a year. I spent $440 per year on Nectar ($1,000 and slept on it 2.25 years before almost throwing it away) so the Sleep On Latex mattress topper at $400 worked out. Fingers crossed.
If you are sleeping in your mattress causing you back pain I would definitely try a firm latex mattress topper and see if it works for you.
Edit 1: I realized I forgot to mention the cons. What you hear about Latex being heavy and smelly is true. It’s heavy as hell and hard to get on your bed. But once you do you’re set. It also smelled for me for 4-5 days but I think that’s because I used it right out of the box and did not air it out. I put on sheets a few hours after putting it on my mattress.
Edit 2: 5 month update. It works! This mattress topper saved my sleep. I was honestly so miserable and this completely fixed my back pain instantly. Now 5 months in it’s for sure lost some durability, but it still feels like 95%+ durability. This may not fix everyone’s issue, but if you are in a similar issue as me, I would highly recommend it as of now. Also there has been no smell for a long time. The smell is completely gone.

I am looking to get a new topper for my mattress and I am absolutely hating this process. I have tried down feather bed (3" sealy) and its so comfortable but it goes flat after a couple days and its just not realistic to think I will strip my bed and fluff it every few days. once its flat I get pressure point pains, my arm goes numb even sometimes. I am mostly a back and side sleeper BTW.
Next I bought a gel memory foam (2" gel memory foam) one that had a ton of really good reviews on amazon despite me knowing already that I hate memory foam. Had a mattress years ago and it was the worst because it threw my body all out of alignment the way it swallows and engulfs you when you lay on it. so no surprise--have the memory foam topper a week trial and was in pain and walking with right hip pain and a limp for close to a week following.
ugg...so I have been looking at latex toppers. I've read tons of reviews here and elsewhere about latex toppers. sleep on latex, naturally nestled, avocado etc. but I'm trying to find if someone can tell me what it really feels like--like how does it compare to memory foam? does it cradle and swallow you like memory foam does? I ask because the latex toppers look just like memory foam toppers appearance-wise and it's making me a bit nervous at the idea of dropping $250-300 (queen size 2-3" toppers) only to be in the same boat.
