This couch was $7000 20 years ago. This is the only wear spot on the whole thing. I ordered a few leather repair patches on Amazon but I know it will always be noticeable. Any recommendations on leather repair kits? I’ve watched many videos on YouTube of people repairing by using a patch from the inside, and then smoothing the glue on top to mend & then painting it.
Anybody have experience with this? Brand recommendations? Best way to repair?

If that’s the only spot then, IMO, the best solution would be to have a leather worker or upholsterer replace that entire piece of leather and dye it to match the rest of the sofa. You can also have someone recondition/refurbish all the leather at the same time.

My sofa has three sitting pillows that are permanently attached to the frame. A year or two ago I bought a self-sticky faux leather patch on Amazon to fix the top of one of the pillows but while it hasn’t come undone, it started flaking really badly. I think a real piece of leather would be better but I have no clue how to attach it to the top of the pillow. Is there some kind of a handheld sewing tool? Should I use curved needle? Any other ideas?

If you're going to sew leather make the holes first. Then get a curved needle and guide the thread through all the holes but keep it loose. When the thread is through all the holes, pull it tight stitch by stitch
