The Ideapad Slim 5s are good laptops overall. The only downsides seem to be a mid battery life and the fan profile is weird on some of them. Your laptop over there will meet your needs quite comfortably. The 8845HS is a great CPU and has a very decent Igpu that can probably play Fortnite. The performance is roughly equal to a desktop GTX 1650 so anything that the 1650 can play, your laptop can also most likely. Some downsides for the configuration you chose: 16Gb of RAM. This really isn't your fault as these sort of laptops charge an arm and a leg for RAM. Laptops featuring these new chips (8845HS, Intel Core Ultra line-up, AMD 300 series etc.) have soldered down memory which means you are stuck with 16gb forever basically. For browsing and school work it will be fine but for gaming it most likely won't. The Igpu needs to use the same system RAM as the CPU so in a gaming scenario the CPU is left with like 12-13gb of RAM tops. The screen. Lenovo Ideapads have the option for an IPS or an OLED display. OLED is of course the premium option and costs more which is fine. The problem is that the IPS on the Ideapad 5 is a 45% NTSC screen which is unfortunately the norm for most budget to mid-end laptops. It won't give you headaches or anything but the colors will look really dull and pale, almost like the thing you are watching is lifeless. If you can look over these 2 things, it's a great laptop. I actually was interested in this exact same laptop, just with 32gb of RAM and the OLED display but I found a great deal on an Asus Vivobook S 16 OLED and went for that. As for the Ideapad 5: speakers are decent (for laptop speakers at least), keyboard feels ok and that CPU is a monster. More on reddit.com

This is unfortunately the consequence of people wanting cheaper and thinner laptops. All "cheap" models are affected. This is not a Lenovo only issue. Why do they blame the customer when it breaks ? Because that allows them to sell another cheap unit and encourage that vicious cycle. To avoid this, you either spend more on a magnesium/aluminum build machine, such as a ThinkPad. Or buy a used or heavy discounted higher end unit when they get replaced by next year's model. I've been buying used ThinkPads for years (my most recent one is from 2021 and still has a year of warranty left thanks to the original owner) and none ever broke that way.
