Light olive/"sea green" suit - suggestions for shirt/tie combo other than the staple white & black?
I'm not sure standing out at a professional networking event by being very colourful is the best way, but then I don't know what kind of event this is. Don't wear a black tie regardless. That's for funerals and ska bands. If you want to look a little different, try a nice light blue shirt and a yellow or orange trunk tie (not neon coloured, mind you). If you want to be slightly more conservative, go with a white or eggshell coloured shirt and a burgundy silk tie. With both, you can try brown or black belt/shoes and see which matches the best.

See below for the exact colour, it was on sale online (I am proportionally lucky) and I wasn't planning on wearing it anytime soon but it actually fits very well straight out of the bag. I can always fall back on the white shirt, black tie, but I'm attending a professional networking event and I'd like to stand out at least a little more. I'm fairly pale, light brown hair. If that helps.

You could probably throw a striped pattern onto the tie but it depends on what colour the stripe is and I think using patterned ties is up to your discretion. Or any other pattern for a tie for that matter just make sure the colour works and the pattern isnt too crazy.
