Normal third party adapters that you can easily find on Amazon won't work, and they explicitly say so. Depending on which headphones, you can use the Apple Lightning to USB adapter , which AFAIK is the only one that supports USB data over Lightning. You will need to also get a male A to female C adapter (which are out of spec themselves but should work), and most importantly your headphones need to be USB Audio Class compatible (usually they're marketed as having a DAC or being "digital", cause there are fully analog USB-C headphones that only work with some USB-C devices.

I want to make use of the Apple Music’s HiFi tier but since i don’t have some gears, I’m using my AirPlay enabled DAC which i think is limited to 24-bit/44.1kHz!! I don’t want to buy lightning to 3.5mm connector and instead i want to buy a dedicated DAC but I’m having connectivity issues with my iPhone. That’s why i thought that since the Shanling UA2 uses a female USB C port and comes with a USB C to C cable to connect with MacBooks, why not if we are able to connect it with our iPhone using the lightning to USB C cable, that’s the same thing right? Please reply me if you have something relatable DAC, i mean if you have an iPhone and also some DAC with female USB C port connector. I could buy camera adapter but i think this is the cheapest workaround possible, and with third party cables i can get the lightning to c cable at super cheap but of great quality and mfi certified like the amazon basics cables.

Yes, I use my iPad Pro cable usb-c, to usb-c to wire into my Fiio Q3. Coincidently I also use it to charge my iPad (obviously) and I charge the Q3 with it as well being I have the 20W Apple plug. Edit: I have no tried a USB-C to lightning cable because I haven’t found mine yet. Some where in a bag from a work trip I’ve been repacking all week so I’ll try soon.

Almost 100% sure it will not work: “charging” cables do not have the required wiring for the digital audio signal. I also bought the usb / cam adapter to plug-in into my Sony DAC and works good
