Firstly, the keyboard itself is very very good, connectivity and battery life are both brilliant. Its a shame about the keycaps that come with it though - for a cost of 150+, I'd expect PBT caps atleast.. And then we have the non-standard stabilizer stem positions (backspace, enter, capslock, right shift and space) - which rules out using other profile keycaps (XDA, etc), and little to no keycaps for sale from logitech. The built in caps show signs of use within a day - they will wear out with a shine over time. For some, it may be a symbol of a key-warrior, not for me though - I prefer a well-maintained/fresh look.. :) If you're looking to customize this keyboard's caps, your choices are determined by: Custom stabilizer stems - this means you have to live with the built-in keycaps for these keys; and this also means low profile caps/sets Not all low profile sets match the full keycap configuration (even apart from the custom stabiliser keys mentioned above) - so you'll need to use some of the built in keys Top row configuration is different - this can be an issue depending on how much you use the KB for media play/pause, etc (I use the mouse, so I dont care) Low profile PBT with backlit keys are even rarer If ABS is the only option, then I'd suggest using white keycaps instead of black/grey - these tend to take longer to show signs of use I ended up getting low profile keycaps from Keychron - 2 sets (1 black and 1 white), and added custom (my own) stickers on top for those keys that have to be the Logitech's. Profile/shape of the Keychron caps are slightly different to that of the Mini - but I can live with this. Backlight is off (doesnt work with this keycap set, but the contrast is good enough that I don't care). What I ended up with: [As you can see from the image, the 5 keys with custom stabilizers are still the logitech ones] The keycap set link: https://www.keychron.com/products/low-profile-double-shot-pbt-keycap-set Other low profile set options: Nuphy Air coast 75 as someone already mentioned (has to be grey, but this is PBT) Link Pulsar low profile set Link [Not sure if this is PBT] Azio's low profile set Link [Disclaimer: the description seems to state that they are not compatible with non-Azio keyboards because it uses 'custom triangular stems', but a photo of the keycap itself shows a standard + cherry style stem - so I'm not fully sure] Disclaimer: I DON'T work for any of the companies mentioned above - I just like my KB but I don't like usage marks.. :), and I have tested only the keychron set (I'm currently using it), your results may vary.. Hope that helps. Answer from legend_zeratul on reddit.com

r/MechanicalKeyboards on Reddit: Where to buy custom keycaps for Logitech MX Mechanical keyboards?
May 24, 2022 -

I saw there's a new Logitech MX Mechanical keyboard - which is wireless:

https://www.logitech.com/en-us/products/keyboards/mx-mechanical.html

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/05/logitechs-mx-keys-mechanical-is-a-satisfying-wireless-introduction-to-mech-keebs/

My current daily driver is a Keychron K6 with Granite keycaps (blank).

I'm sorely tempted by the Logitech though

  • Battery life on the Keychron K6 isn't great - maybe 1-2 weeks (without backlight). The Logitech apparently promises 10 months battery life (no backlight).

  • The Keychron K6 can't report battery percentage via BT - not sure why.

  • The Keychron K6 takes 3-4 seconds to wake from sleep each time I go back to my laptop.

I'm hoping/assuming that Logitech's long experience, and larger R&D budgets will mean they've sorted out these niggles with things like BT stack, battery life etc.

However, I really want my custom keycaps. From what I can tell, the Logitech uses "Kailh low-profile switches" (I'll be going with Clicky in Mini layout..what else, haha. I use MX Greens right now).

Does anybody know where to get decent keycaps for this please?

Swapping a keychron for a Logitech will be a downgrade. And yes, you'll be stuck with Logitech keycap sets

r/logitech on Reddit: MX Mechanical with Womier PBT keycaps
August 29, 2024 -

I know that MX Mechanical is not considered a good keyboard. But it’s my first mechanical keyboard, and I like it. Most because I use it with a Mac laptop and a Windows desktop. Changing between systems without having to lift the keyboard was something I was looking for. The battery life is awesome, and the overall feeling is pleasing. However, I had to lubricate the switches. They were feeling scratchy. And of course, I over-lubed (first time), but after I cleaned some of the grease, it’s all good now.

MX Mechanical default keycaps set

I know that it has its flaws, and I’m good with that. But the keycaps were the only thing that was really bothering me.

After a lot of hours of research, I’ve got a set of Womier black shine-through keycaps.

Womier set (Black 118) Womier set (Black 118)

I decided to get these keycaps because I don’t want to spend money on something I would not use. So I got the low-profile ones. I thought that if some keys didn’t fit because of compatibility, I could at least use some of them.

Partial set Full set

I wish I could help others like me. Who were searching for information and weren’t being very successful.

P.S.: I still have to mod the space bar. Wish me luck.

December 20, 2022 - Would recommend Nuphy/Keychron keyboards since they have PBT keycaps which don't have this problem. The other option maybe would be to contact Logitech support to see if they give replacements (never tried to contact them myself). ... Thank you! I'll look into that. ... This is two years old but I would recommend for those future readers of this post experiencing the same situation. EBAY! I am finding replacement keycaps on ebay. I like typing on my MX Mechanical but I really hate the keycaps, 3 years of it being my daily driver, I don't see any fading.

r/logitech on Reddit: Product suggestion: develop replacement keycaps for the MX Mechanical line in PBT
December 11, 2022 -

Hi all,

If you've used an MX Mechanical keyboard for more than a couple months you've probably noticed the ABS keycaps wear out extremely quickly. My proposal to Logitech's product team would be to sell replacement keycaps made of higher quality PBT. PBT wears less quickly, and develops less "shine" than ABS.

Please pass this feedback along to the team for consideration.

Related: has anyone found 3rd party keycaps that work with these boards? Notably, most 3rd party sets are incompatible due to Logitech's unique spacebar configuration (side note, Logitech: this was a consumer hostile move).
