I bought a property that included a 20+ year old fountain in the front yard. Within the fountain are 6 defunct underwater lights that are wired from the bottom of the concrete base, into PVC underground conduit back to a low-voltage 12V transformer. The only splice in the line is where the wires attach to the transformer. I've opened the lights to try and replace the bulbs, but the internal hardware is corroded and busted -- in other words, the lights themselves have to be replaced.

What I'm trying to determine is whether I can cut the line at the base of each light and splice in underwater 12V LED lights. If my only safe option is to replace the light and the whole wire to the transformer, I'll likely just leave them as is -- the trouble is not worth it. Is there a safe way to complete an underwater splice?

I would like to add some Bright lights underneath my pond that will attract bugs that will fall into the pond, all my fish are going to have an all night buffet, the frogs and toads could join in too and maybe even the crayfish might get some bugs that sink to the bottom
