Hello, I'm a long life windows user and now that my notebook broke after 4 years I thought about buying a MacBook.
I don't have a lot of money so I'm looking for cheap alternatives from second hand.
Firstly I was looking at the M1 MacBooks because you can buy them cheaply in my country from second hand. (Around 500-530€)
After longer looking I set down on MacBook pro M1 16gb ram and 512 SSD.
But recently after looking I found out that you can buy The MacBook air with M2 chip, 16 GB RAM and 256gb ssd with around the same price from second hand. (around 550-570€)
I was using my laptops for school, coding, editing, web browsing, watching YouTube and playing games ( mostly indie, and sometimes some rocket league, Death stranding or some competitive shooters)
What do you think would be the better option for me right now?
(thanks for anyone replying because I can't decide if I want more storage or better design)
I’m looking at some good deals on the MacBook Air M2 but wondering if it’s still a smart buy in 2026 or already outdated. My use is coding prep, lots of Chrome tabs, YouTube, and daily stuff, and I want it to last 4–5 years. Is 16GB basically necessary now or can 8GB still manage? Or should I just wait for M5 so M4 prices drop?
Hey, i'm an master student in computer science and I am planning to buy a laptop that is good for coding, AI work ( lightweight ) , and for browser watching, or basic video editing in after effects, and mainly ( sturdy enough to handle traveling in train ). I came across air m2 base variant, is it still best in 2026 cause my budget is little tight and I saw an offer for air m2 at 765$, should I go for it ?
Need suggestions
I am first year cs student
So i am looking for a laptop, probably going to use it for light coding and some work, maybe watch movies on it sometime, and i am looking for something of best value. I found a new macbook air m2 16gb/256gb for 699€ and i feel like its much better value compared to windows laptops of the same price. I dont need it for gaming since i have a pc, also i have experience with macos and windows, and now im using an iphone. I also can buy an m4 for about 850€ new. I was wondering if i should buy the m2, or maybe wait for prices to drop when m5 releases(which will probably not happen because idk)? Also is the m2 a fast laptop, since i am planning to use it for the next 3-4 years.
Recently bought an 2022 M2 MacBook Air, curious how they hold up in 2026. The last time I had a MacBook it was intel.
I’m a Computer Science student planning to buy a MacBook Air M2 for around £500.

Hi Guys, i was wondering whether macbook m2 air is still holding up good for coding and entertainment purposes. What's your experience nowadays? I'm asking cause i want to dump my old windows laptop (very old) and thinking of getting used m2 air for around US$600~700. And how much ram do you recommend in 2026?(8gb is a lot cheaper than 16gb one.) And one thing, is it good in terms of performance compared to m1 pros?
