Hi all, I found a deal of 1400$ (190,000¥) for an old macbook pro 14 inch, with spec as following: -CPU: M1 Pro
-
ram: 16GB
-
storage: 512GB
-
charging cycles: 28
-
battery max capacity: 100%
-
the seller claims that he bought it in March 2022, and rarely used it (once a week) so it looks quite new.
May I ask whether it is a good deal? I am looking for my very first macbook so I don’t really know about the price. Thanks a lot in advance!
Note: The original post is on mercari (a Japanese marketplace) and in Japanese so I just translated the info into English.
There are great deals for both models. 1400 for the m4 base and 1750 for the m4 pro with 24 gb ram. I am a developer but I feel both are fine for that but some developer colleagues of mine say that 24gb ram is needed to make it future proof. The price difference is $350 or a 21% increase roughly for extra 8gb ram and m4 pro. I wanted help from the community in deciding because I've been thinking about this for days now. What I am looking for in order is:
last me a very long time (8+ years)
makes the least amount of fan noise
In my research I get mixed results in this, some say that having 2 fans makes it more quiet because there will be less work that one fan will need to compensates for, while other sites are saying the m4 base model is more quiet which doesn't make sense to me.
More resistant to getting hot.
I get mixed results on this in my research. Some say the m4 pro is better because it has 2 fans, but others say it will get hotter because of the added performance cores.
good for gaming (I rarely game but do sometimes play civ 6)
I'm eh about this item. At one point I might do stuff like virtual machines for coding but at the same time I've only ever done that kind of stuff on my work laptop and my company already provides the work-beast of a laptop already.
I'd really appreciate people's insight and viewpoint.
For what it is worth, I am coming from a lenovo yoga 720 15 in with a Geforce 1050 mobile graphics card that I've been using since mid 2017.
