I keep seeing people offering Google Business Profile management services for like $200+ a month and I’m honestly wondering if it’s still worth it. I mean, once your profile is set up photos, hours, reviews, updates, etc. what else are they really doing? I get that SEO people say it helps rankings, but half the time it just feels like they’re posting random updates and replying to reviews I could easily handle myself, has anyone actually seen a big difference from paying someone to manage it long term? Or is it more of a set it up right once and just keep an eye on it kind of deal?

I’m a 25 year agency owner (full service digital marketing) and have managed the GBP product since it launched 20 years and 5(!) names ago. It’s certainly a DIY thing and the most important things are to monitor for changes to the profile and to keep it active by posting fresh content and keeping a steady review flow. Why do our clients use us for the service? We do the above, plus provide ranking reporting, so they don’t have to have something on their plate they might not be comfortable with or want to monitor. Approximately 30% of the profiles we manage are single location, however the other 70% are multiples and those are the clients who really have no interest in taking care of what may be their most important digital properties. So, if you’re comfortable with it, keep at it. And if you’re not sure, you could always have it audited to make sure you’re on the right track.
