Samsung Unveils World’s First 130-Inch Micro RGB TV Featuring Next-Generation Color and Bold New Design
What’s the verdict? Is this tech actually good or is it in the same vein as “QLED is just as good as OLED” bullshit that Samsung was on for a while More on reddit.com
An update on highly anticipated—and elusive—Micro LED displays. New (and cheaper) Micro LED TVs have been announced.
Too expensive now, but this is some pretty amazing tech. Seamless expandable main panels and removable mini-panels -- impressive. More on reddit.com
How long do you think until commercial viability for micro-led monitors?
Your question rephrased is essentially asking us to predict what's going to be around in 10+ years? It's too early to tell if microLED is even going to be a reality. All we know right now is microLED is guaranteed the most expensive to manufacture now, and probably into the future. There's further refinements for OLED and QDEL to be made first, before they try for microLED. If they can fix the blue pixel issue, my money is on QDEL winning the race. Because no matter how much OLED improves it still requires a vacuum (negative pressure) environment for production which is high OPEX costs. Whereas QDEL doesn't need any such thing and can even be implemented via retrofitting existing fabs (inkjet, lithography). Lower upfront investment costs, lower OPEX, higher profits for companies relatively speaking. If QDEL's blue pixel cannot be fixed, depending on what kind of innovation happens with OLED, it may still win. But at that point microLED becomes a true potential competitor, because again, microLED doesn't require a vacuum. More on reddit.com
MicroLED tvs are the future.
Until MicroLED is affordable to the general consumer, or even fanatics willing to spend that “little extra”, OLED will remain king. Can’t imagine the technology will be cost effective for the general consumer for another 5-10 years. More on reddit.com

February 15, 2025 - From on device AI upscaling to better colours and lighting. That is why OLED is a fairly large TV quality leap over LCD panels. Unfortunately OLED has its own set of issues from bad light levels to inevitable burn in. Micro-LED is hopefully able to do all that an OLED can while being immune to burn in and very bright.

What are Micro RGB TVs and why are they everywhere at CES 2026?
1 week ago - Up until last year, the most color-accurate TVs used quantum dot technology and achieved a maximum of around 85 percent BT.2020 coverage (some projectors can cover 100 percent or more of the BT.2020 spectrum as they use RGB lasers to create colors). That brings us to Micro RGB (also known as RGB Mini LED), the most advanced LED panel yet.

February 12, 2025 - SED/FED died this way - LCDs were (and still are) vastly inferior to SED, yet it didn't matter because they improved enough to be good enough long before Canon (for SED) and Sony (for FED) could get to market. True Micro LED faces the same problem - OLED is improving all the time in terms of both brightness and longevity, closing the window for Micro LED. ... $7,990 for a 75" TV is not really that out of line.

Mini LED TVs were first introduced by TCL in 2019. Since then, other TV manufacturers have followed in TCL’s footsteps to introduce their own Mini LED TVs to achieve superior picture quality. Regular LED TVs use a layer of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) behind the LCD panel to illuminate the image that’s on-screen.
